OZBREED says Shara or Lomandra Fluviatilis, a new addition to its line of strappy leaf plants, is a fine leaf Lomandra with slightly blue grey tones.
According to Ozbreed, shara is more compact than the common Lomandra fluviatilis, flowers more than most forms and sits well above the foliage.
Ozbreed says the blue grey strappy leaf plant grows to around 40cm high and 50cm wide, it recommends planting eight per square meter as a blanket ground cover.
The drought tolerant shara is suitable for mass planting in periodic wet and dry areas when a low growing tidy and tough plant is needed. It requires little to no maintenance.
Ozbreed claims the plant has proven to handle the humidity of Brisbane and Sydney for three years with no sign of death from root rot.
