VICTORIAN Minister for Environment, Gavin Jennings says the State Government will provide $5.4m to over 170 Victorian landholders to help undertake environmental improvement works on individual properties.
According to the Minister, the funding is a 2009 extension on the BushTender program by $3.3 million, it is part of the State Government’s ecoMarket’s initiative. The funding will provide for important environmental protection activities to be carried out on almost 8,000 hectares of private land, beginning with a new project in North Central Victoria.
The Minister says the ecoMarket’s initiative includes schemes such as BushTender, BushBroker and EcoTender which provide financial incentives to landowners to manage land in ways which conserve and enhance the environment.
